Parks and Recreation
Evanston’s Parks and Recreation Department is run by Dennis Poppinga and is responsible for the administration, operation, maintenance, and capital improvements of Evanston’s parks, buildings, and Parks and Recreation facilities. The Department is also committed to maintaining the City cemetery, Bear River Greenway, BEAR Community Center, Ice Ponds, Purple Sage Golf Course and the Nordic cross country ski areas. Attractions and Activities
Evanston is home to a vast assortment of magnificent attractions and activities that draw visitors from all over. Discover more about Evanston’s rich history by taking a walk through the historic downtown, visit the last intact roundhouse on the original Union Pacific Railroad, or enjoy following the old Mormon Trail. Take in the clear and cool fresh air and scenic views at Bear River State Park, the Bear River Greenway, and the High Uintas. Evanston is just a short drive from a number of fantastic attractions, making it the perfect regional hub. Drive for about an hour and you’ll find yourself at the High Uinta Mountains, Fossil Butte National Monument, Fort Bridger Historical Site, the J.C. Penny Mother Store, Flaming Gorge Reservoir, Bear Lake Resort, and the Utah cities of Park City and Salt Lake City. Evanston also offers itself up as a great outdoor recreation center with easy access to snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice skating, hiking, golf, and much more!

Renewal Ball

Mark your calendar for the first Saturday in June to come out and experience live music, fine dining, and a live and silent auction, just to name a few of the features of the Renewal Ball. Funds from the event have been used towards the revitalization of Evanston's Historic Business District and Historic Depot Square. Proceeds have now been committed to the stabilization and development of the Roundhouse and Railyards.
High Uinta Classic Bike Race

Nationally recognized for its excellence, the High Uintas Classic Stage Race will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2008. The third Saturday in June, racers compete in the classic Bald Mountain Road Race, racing "Over the Top" at Bald Mountain Pass, 10,700 feet. On the third Sunday, racers compete in the Charles Scrivner Memorial Time Trial and Downtown Courthouse Criterium in Evanston
